Dear ISA,
My team says they want autonomy, but when I step back, nothing moves. When I step in, I'm told I'm controlling. How do I lead without micromanaging — or disappearing?
— Trying to Lead
Dear Trying to Lead,
Name the tension out loud with your team. Autonomy without clarity becomes drift; direction without space becomes control. Agree on what done looks like, where you'll check in, and where they own it. Then keep your word and let them keep theirs.
