Organizational Assessment
Organizational Assessment
A structured diagnostic of how your organization actually functions. Where the free I³ Snapshot™ gives you a first read, the full assessment gives leadership an evidence-based picture of where the organization is drifting, why, and what to do first.
What the assessment is
ISA connects leadership decisions, organizational conditions, and implementation results. An assessment focuses on the decisions leaders face, the changes required, and the evidence needed to determine whether those changes worked.
The assessment is built on ISA’s Institutional Intelligence Index™, a proprietary diagnostic developed by the Institute. The instrument itself, how findings are scored, and the way those findings are staged are not published. Leadership learns exactly what is being measured, and how, in confidence during scoping, before any engagement begins.
This is not a survey and not a report written from a distance. It draws on evidence gathered from across the organization rather than a single point of view, and it surfaces the slow gap between what leadership intends and what the organization actually does.
Scope, duration, and what you receive
- Duration: typically four to six weeks from kickoff to executive briefing, depending on organization size and availability.
- Methodology: ISA’s diagnostic method and its measures are proprietary and are not published. The approach is reviewed privately with leadership during scoping, under confidentiality.
- Outputs: an overall organizational diagnostic score, clear findings ranked by urgency, a written Institutional Intelligence Report™, and a confidential executive briefing with a prioritized action roadmap.
- Investment: engagements are scoped and priced to the size and complexity of the organization. A written scope and fee proposal follows an initial conversation, and there is no cost to have that conversation.
The free I³ Snapshot™ is not the assessment
ISA offers two distinct things, and they are meant to be different.
I³ Snapshot™
The free screening
- Free, 12 questions, about five to seven minutes
- Completed online by one leader
- Immediate, self-reported results
- A first read on where pressure may be building
Organizational Assessment
The full engagement
- Multi-week diagnostic engagement
- Evidence gathered across the organization, not one person’s view
- A written report and confidential executive briefing
- Scoped and priced to the organization
The screening is a useful first look, but it reflects one person’s view and is not a validated benchmark or a diagnosis. The assessment is what produces defensible findings leadership can act on.
Who this is for
Executives accountable for the whole organization, including city managers and county administrators, agency and institutional leaders, and executive teams facing unclear problems that have resisted a straightforward fix.
What changes
A shared, evidence-based picture of organizational health, a prioritized roadmap, and confidential counsel for the leaders accountable for the whole organization.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the I³ Snapshot™ the same as the organizational assessment?
No. The I³ Snapshot™ is a free, 18-question online screening that returns immediate, self-reported results. The organizational assessment is a multi-week paid engagement that gathers evidence from across the organization and produces a written report and executive briefing. They are different products with different scopes.
Can we review the assessment methodology before we commit?
Yes. The methodology is proprietary and is not published publicly. Its structure, the evidence it draws on, and how findings are scored and staged are reviewed in confidence with leadership during scoping, before any engagement begins.
How long does an assessment take?
Typically four to six weeks from kickoff to executive briefing, depending on the size of the organization and availability.
How is an assessment priced?
Engagements are scoped and priced to the size and complexity of the organization. A written scope and fee proposal follows an initial conversation.
Is the work confidential?
Yes, subject to the terms of the engagement and applicable law. Diagnostic findings and advisory conversations are confidential to the leadership team engaging ISA.
